It’s the commonly used material in 3D printing, Polylactic acid (PLA) is an environmental-friendly & user-friendly filament and it is derived from organic material such as corn starch, sugar beets, and wheat. Probably the greatest plus of PLA material is its bio-degradable and the reason why we prefer it to print (it avoids a risk of toxic contamination from the fumes).
PLA has a slightly lower melting point than ABS with lower shrinkage and gives shiny surface compare to 3D printed model.
The tough thing is that ABS gives off toxic fumes while printing, but get be smoothed with a much safer process, while PLA is absolutely same fume-wise to print with but its hard to smoothen its surface.
PLA is ideal for 3D prints where aesthetics are important. Due to its lower printing temperature is easier to print with and therefore better suited for parts with fine details.
3D Era has in-house facility to create the parts through PLA 3D Printing.
